Local Palo Alto Advantage

Our Peninsula yard is at 1350 Old Bayshore Hwy in Burlingame — not a dispatch number in another county. We know which streets in Old Palo Alto need a parking permit, which Stanford loading docks can take a 30-yard, which Eichler driveways will and won't take a 10-yard fully loaded, and how to time deliveries around historic-district design-review windows. That local knowledge means faster drops and fewer surprises.

ZIP codes we serve in Palo Alto: 94301, 94303, 94304 (Stanford Research Park), 94306. Stanford campus: 94305, 94309.

Palo Alto C&D Recycling Compliance — Documentation Included

Palo Alto's Construction & Demolition Debris Diversion Ordinance requires permitted projects ≥ $50,000 in cost or 1,000 sq ft of work area to recycle at least 65% of construction debris from landfill. Permits won't close without it.

Every dumpster we deliver in Palo Alto comes with the paperwork you need:

  • Certified scale tickets from a third-party processor — the actual weight, not an estimate
  • Recycling-rate documentation showing diversion percentage per load
  • Shoreway Environmental Center receipts (Recology San Mateo County) for material routed to their MRF
  • Post-project compliance reports available on request for permit close-out

Need C&D documentation for a Palo Alto project? Call (650) 292-3003 and we'll route your job to processors that hit your diversion target.

Palo Alto Projects We Handle Every Week

From the Stanford Research Park to the Eichler-home neighborhoods and the historic districts, here's what our Palo Alto team is dropping containers for in a typical week.

Stanford & Stanford Research Park

Stanford University ongoing construction, Stanford Research Park tenant improvements, dorm and residence-hall turnover (June and September peak weeks). We run swap-out schedules for institutional jobs. Call (650) 292-3003 for academic-calendar planning.

Eichler Home Remodels

Palo Alto has the country's densest concentration of Joseph Eichler mid-century-modern homes (Greenmeadow, Charleston Meadows, Charleston Gardens, Greendell). Their radiant slab foundations and post-and-beam framing create unique demo and disposal needs. We've handled hundreds of these projects.

Historic District Renovations

Major renovations in Crescent Park, Old Palo Alto, and Professorville — the city's three historic-character zones. Premium projects, careful demolition, character-preservation requirements. We work with your design review timeline.

Tech HQ Tenant Improvements

Office refresh, facility relocation, and tenant-improvement debris around the California Avenue and University Avenue districts. We handle 30- and 40-yard volumes for Tesla, HP, Palantir, VMware, and the rest of the Palo Alto tech footprint.

Where the debris goes: Most Palo Alto loads route to Shoreway Environmental Center in San Carlos (operated by Recology San Mateo County) or the SMaRT Station in Sunnyvale for South Bay-routed loads. You get a recycling receipt with the certified scale weight on every job — the documentation Palo Alto's C&D ordinance requires.

What Materials Our General Debris Dumpster Accept?

We accept a wide variety of materials in our general debris dumpsters, with some limitations. Here's what you can and cannot dispose of in our roll-off containers.

What we are: A construction, remodel, and bulky-debris dumpster service.
What we're not: A weekly trash service or a food-waste hauler. Keep kitchen garbage, diapers, and pet waste out of our bins.

Accepted Materials

  • General Debris – wood, drywall, cardboard, trash, light construction waste
  • Inert Materials – concrete, brick, dirt, asphalt, rock, sand
  • Yard Waste – branches, leaves, grass, soil (no trash or lumber)
  • Remodeling Waste – cabinets, flooring, tiles, doors, windows
  • Roofing Materials – shingles, tar paper, plywood, flashing
  • Household Junk – furniture, mattresses, toys, old clothes
  • Metal & Appliances – rebar, pipes, sheet metal, non-Freon appliances
  • Clean Wood – untreated lumber, pallets, plywood scraps

Not Allowed

  • Hazardous Waste – Paint, solvents, chemicals, pesticides, oil, fuel, or any flammable liquid.
  • Batteries & Electronics – Car batteries, lithium batteries, TVs, computers, or appliances with circuit boards.
  • Tires – Whole or shredded tires (must be recycled separately).
  • Asbestos or Contaminated Material – Insulation, tile, or soil that may contain asbestos or lead.
  • Medical or Biohazard Waste – Needles, sharps, or contaminated materials.
  • Large Appliances with Fluids – Refrigerators, AC units, or anything containing Freon or oil.
  • Wet Waste & Garbage Containing Food – Restaurant or commercial food-service waste, kitchen trash bags, perishable food, or any household garbage containing food residue.
  • Sanitary & Hygiene Waste – Diapers, feminine hygiene products, soiled paper products, used tissues, or pet waste.
  • Pressurized Tanks – Propane, gas, or air tanks of any size.

Golden Rule for Inert Materials

Use a separate dumpster for concrete, brick, dirt, and asphalt. Mixing inert materials with regular debris can make the dumpster unsafe and even break road rules. Plus, you'll save money, our inert-material dumpsters have no weight limits, but mixing will cause extra charges. Have questions? Just give us a call, we're happy to help.
