Expert Tips for Choosing the Right Size
When in Doubt, Size Up
It's better to have extra space than to run out. The cost difference between sizes is often minimal compared to ordering a second dumpster.
Consider Weight Limits
Inert materials like concrete, dirt, or roofing shingles may require a smaller container due to weight restrictions, not volume.
Measure Your Space
Ensure you have adequate space for delivery and pickup. Consider overhead clearance and access for our delivery truck.
Plan Your Timeline
All rentals include 7 days. If you need longer, factor this into your size choice to avoid multiple rentals.
Know Prohibited Items
Hazardous materials, paint, chemicals, and appliances with freon cannot go in dumpsters. Plan alternative disposal.
Compare Total Costs
Our prices include delivery, pickup, disposal, and 7-day rental. No hidden fees means you can accurately compare options.
What Materials Our General Debris Dumpster Accept?
We accept a wide variety of materials in our general debris dumpsters, with some limitations. Here’s what you can and cannot dispose of in our roll-off containers.
Accepted Materials
- General Debris – wood, drywall, cardboard, trash, light construction waste
- Inert Materials – concrete, brick, dirt, asphalt, rock, sand
- Yard Waste – branches, leaves, grass, soil (no trash or lumber)
- Remodeling Waste – cabinets, flooring, tiles, doors, windows
- Roofing Materials – shingles, tar paper, plywood, flashing
- Household Junk – furniture, mattresses, toys, old clothes
- Metal & Appliances – rebar, pipes, sheet metal, non-Freon appliances
- Clean Wood – untreated lumber, pallets, plywood scraps
Not Allowed
- Hazardous Waste – Paint, solvents, chemicals, pesticides, oil, fuel, or any flammable liquid.
- Batteries & Electronics – Car batteries, lithium batteries, TVs, computers, or appliances with circuit boards.
- Tires – Whole or shredded tires (must be recycled separately).
- Asbestos or Contaminated Material – Insulation, tile, or soil that may contain asbestos or lead.
- Medical or Biohazard Waste – Needles, sharps, or contaminated materials.
- Large Appliances with Fluids – Refrigerators, AC units, or anything containing Freon or oil.
- Liquids & Food Waste – Paint, oil, wet garbage, or perishable food items.
- Pressurized Tanks – Propane, gas, or air tanks of any size.
Golden Rule for Inert Materials
Use a separate dumpster for concrete, brick, dirt, and asphalt. Mixing inert materials with regular debris can make the dumpster unsafe and even break road rules. Plus, you'll save money, our inert-material dumpsters have no weight limits, but mixing will cause extra charges. Have questions? Just give us a call, we're happy to help.

Common questions
Quick answers before you book a dumpster in the Bay Area
Match the size to your project: 5-yard for small cleanouts and partial garages, 10-yard for single-car garage cleanouts and kitchen remodels, 20-yard for two-car garages and most renovations, 30-yard for whole-home renovations and large estate cleanouts, 40-yard for commercial demolition. For concrete, dirt, brick, and asphalt only, use a 5 or 10-yard inert dumpster (no weight cap).
Bay Area dumpster rental starts at $399 for a 5-yard general-debris bin, $420 for a 10-yard, $540 for a 20-yard, $670 for a 30-yard, and $770 for a 40-yard. The 5-yard inert is $495 and the 10-yard inert is $550, both with no included weight cap. Prices include delivery, pickup, and a seven-day rental period; per-ton overage applies on general-debris bins above the included tonnage.
Standard rental covers seven days from delivery. Same-day pickup is free if you finish early. Extra days beyond seven are $45 each. For longer projects, book the longer window upfront — same per-day rate but cleaner billing.
Yes. Same-day delivery is included in San Jose and Campbell when booked before our cutoff time. For other Bay Area cities, same-day delivery is a $100 add-on subject to availability. Most non-same-day deliveries happen within 24 to 48 hours.
Driveway placement on your own private property requires no permit anywhere in the Bay Area. Street placement (in a public parking spot or curbside) requires an encroachment permit from the city — fees range $75 to $250 and processing takes 3 to 10 business days. We can help advise on which path fits your specific address.
General-debris bins take wood, drywall, household goods, furniture, mattresses, and most renovation debris, with an included tonnage allowance and per-ton overage above it. Inert bins take only concrete, dirt, brick, and asphalt — but with no weight cap under standard service. For heavy material like a driveway demolition or chimney teardown, the inert bin is dramatically cheaper than a general bin would be at the same weight.
